Instruction will include an introduction to the noble gasses, studio safety, bombarding process, as well as an overview of correct transformer loading and wiring. Time in the fire will be focused on learning 90-degree bends, U-bends &curves, Students will be provided materials to produce Tubes may consist of clear glass filled with either neon or argon gas. Students will be supplied a neon transformer to power their artistic creations.
Advanced Neon Courses Students will review the history, skills, and techniques learned in Beginners classes as they create one completed artwork or pursue focused experimentation with clear and/or phosphor colored glass tubing. Instruction includes detailed demonstrations of expanded glass bending techniques such as European welding, glass shearing and tube splicing with a focus on an array of fabrication and installation tactics to achieve a chosen aesthetic. Students will be provided materials to produce work Tubes may consist of clear glass filled with neon or argon or in some circumstances another noble gas and some of these tubes may be produced using phosphor coated tubing and filled with a gas mixture. Students will be supplied a neon transformer to power their artistic creations.
Master Neon Courses Students will review the history, skills, and techniques learned in other classes as they create one completed artwork or pursue focused experimentation with clear and/or phosphor coloured glass tubing.
